One to One Senior Dog Care Support

Compassionate 1:1 guidance through aging, care decisions, and anticipatory grief

Caring for a Senior Dog Can Feel Both Loving and Overwhelming

If you’re caring for a senior dog and facing difficult decisions, uncertainty, or emotional strain, I offer private 1:1 support to help you navigate this time with clarity, compassion, and confidence. You can easily reach me at hindy.greypawsandall@gmail.com

Loving a dog as they age is deeply meaningful — and it can also bring worry, grief, and moments of feeling alone. Questions start to pile up. Decisions feel heavier. The emotional weight can be just as challenging as the practical care.

You don’t have to carry all of this by yourself.

I’m Hindy Pearson, and I support senior dog parents through the physical, emotional, and ethical challenges that come with aging — so you can care for your dog in a way that feels informed, loving, and aligned with your values.

Why Work With Me?

I've been passionate about senior dogs since 2009, when I volunteered in a shelter's senior dog room and fell in love with these often-overlooked companions.

Since then, I've fostered and adopted senior dogs, shared my life with aging dogs of my own, and spent years learning about their care and wellbeing.

My background includes:

  • ADTB Approved Dog Trainer
  • Certified Pet Loss Bereavement Specialist
  • Senior dog coursework through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants
  • Animal welfare and animal health studies
  • Ongoing research and interviews with veterinarians, hospice professionals, and pet loss specialists

Most importantly, I combine professional education with lived experience supporting senior dogs and the people who love them.

Do Any of These Sound Familiar?

  • You're wondering if what you're seeing is normal aging or something more serious.
  • Your dog has started pacing, becoming confused, or acting differently.
  • You're struggling with mobility issues, accidents, or changes in appetite.
  • You feel overwhelmed by all the decisions that come with caring for an aging dog.
  • You're constantly asking yourself, "Am I doing enough?"
  • You're worried about your dog's quality of life and don't know what comes next.
  • Friends and family don't fully understand what you're going through.

If any of this feels familiar, you're not alone. These are some of the most common concerns senior dog parents bring to our sessions.

How I Can Support You

Our private sessions are a calm, non-judgmental space to talk openly about what’s happening with your dog — and how it’s affecting you.

Together, we can focus on what matters most right now for you and your dog.

What Support Can Look Like

I know firsthand how overwhelming senior dog care can feel. My heart dog Red lived with canine cognitive dysfunction (dog dementia) among other health challenges, and I remember the worry, second-guessing, and emotional weight that came with watching those changes unfold.

You may come to a session feeling uncertain about changes in your dog's behavior, worried about quality-of-life concerns, or struggling with difficult decisions about care.

Together, we'll talk through what's happening, explore practical ways to support your dog, discuss questions you may want to bring to your veterinarian, and make space for the emotions you're carrying.

My goal is to help you feel less alone, more supported, and clearer about your next steps.

Anticipatory Grief Support

Anticipatory grief is the quiet, often unspoken grief that begins before a loss.

You may find yourself thinking:

  • Is my dog suffering?

  • Am I doing enough — or too much?

  • How will I know when it’s time?

  • How do I live with this constant ache?

In our session, we’ll gently explore these thoughts without rushing toward answers. I’ll help you:

  • Understand and normalize anticipatory grief

  • Reduce guilt and second-guessing

  • Make space for joy alongside sadness

  • Feel less alone with what you’re carrying

There is no “right” way to feel during this stage — only your way.

Quality of Life Conversations

Decisions around quality of life and end-of-life care are deeply personal and emotionally complex.

Using gentle reflection and quality-of-life tools, we’ll look at how your dog is doing — physically, emotionally, and day to day — while honoring your beliefs and your bond.

We can talk through:

  • Signs of pain, anxiety, or distress

  • Comfort, happiness, and engagement

  • When to seek veterinary input

  • Balancing medical care with emotional wellbeing

  • Making decisions you can live with, whatever the outcome

My role is not to tell you what to do — but to help you feel grounded, informed, and supported as you decide.

Senior Dog Care & Daily Support

Whether this is your first senior dog or you’ve been here before, aging often brings new challenges.

I can help you navigate:

  • Normal aging vs. health concerns

  • Vision or hearing loss

  • Cognitive decline (canine dementia)

  • Appetite changes and mealtime struggles

  • Mobility, incontinence, or confusion

  • Enrichment and preventing boredom

  • Medication questions and comfort-focused care

  • Advocating for your dog with veterinary professionals

No concern is too small. Loving a senior dog means noticing everything — and that care deserves support too.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can you help me with?

I can help with a wide range of concerns — from behavior challenges and senior dog care, to quality of life concerns and general guidance when you’re not sure what to do next.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk things through with, that’s exactly what these sessions are for.

How do the sessions work?

Sessions are held over Zoom and are relaxed, one-on-one conversations. You can share what’s going on with your dog, ask questions, and we’ll work through things together in a way that feels manageable and clear.

Do I need to prepare anything in advance?

No formal preparation is needed. When you reach out, you can include a brief description of what’s going on, and that’s enough to get started.

Do you work with people outside your area?

Yes — all sessions are virtual, so you can join from anywhere. We’ll simply find a time that works with your time zone.

How do I book a session?

Email me at hindy.greypawsandall@gmail.com with a short description of what you’re dealing with. I’ll get back to you to arrange a time that works.

What if I’m not sure if this is right for me?

That’s completely okay. You can still reach out — there’s no pressure to book. We can start with a quick conversation over email and see if it feels like a good fit.

Is this training or advice?

It’s both — depending on what you need. Some people come with specific training questions, others need guidance, reassurance, or help understanding what their dog is going through.

Do you replace veterinary care?

No — I don’t replace your veterinarian. If there are medical concerns, I’ll always recommend speaking with your vet. I’m here to support you alongside that care.

If you have a question that isn’t listed here, feel free to reach out — I’m always happy to help.

A Final Note

Caring for a senior dog asks so much of the heart. Whether you’re seeking reassurance, clarity, or simply a place to speak honestly, you don’t have to do this alone.

I’m here to support you — and your dog — with kindness, respect, and understanding, every step of the way.
